Cardiff University, International Foundation ProgrammeBy Asian Correspondent Apr 02, 2013 8:35PM UTC
Cardiff University’s one-year International Foundation Programme gives students from Asia and abroad the support, skills and qualifications they need to enrol in a variety of undergraduate degree programmes at the university or across the UK. Students receive specialised support across one of three targeted areas of study: Business, Engineering or Health and Life Sciences.
Prepare to earn a university degree in the UK
There are plenty of compelling reasons to choose Cardiff’s International Foundation Programme. Above all, it is the only programme that offers automatic progression to the degree programmes at Cardiff. All of the foundation classes are taught on campus by academic staff from the university, and students are considered full members of the university and enjoy full access to campus facilities and resources.
Students are also matched with two personal tutors. One offers assistance with the student’s academic studies, and the other with English language modules. The latter is of particular importance to many international students. With this in mind, the Foundation Programme provides guidance not only in English language, but also in the culture and requirements of the British higher education system.
The Foundation Programme staff also assist international students with any areas of concern. The programme begins with a comprehensive induction to the campus and Cardiff. Single-occupancy accommodation is guaranteed in University residences for the duration of the Foundation Programme and future studies at Cardiff University.
Life at Cardiff University
Academic life can be challenging, but students at Cardiff University still have time to relax and enjoy the social scene on campus. The Students’ Union is the focal point of many student events and activities, with catering outlets, a bookshop, a games room, banking services and a travel service. Indoor and outdoor sporting facilities and more than 65 sports clubs are open to students, along with more than 200 other clubs and societies.
The city of Cardiff is an exciting place to live and study. The city has one of the largest shopping complexes in the UK, complete with all the major high-street brand names, in addition to its historic network of arcades housing independent shops. It’s simple to get to other major cities and popular tourist destinations like London, Bath and Stratford-upon-Avon from Cardiff, so it’s easy to explore the rest of the UK
