Reading week has come to a close, seven days spent catching up on the pages and pages piled high on assigned reading lists. However, alongside course readings, I also devoted part of my week to the delicious luxury of reading for pleasure. As my fellow blogger Polly noted in her post, reading week can’t be all work and no play.Sure, I grab chunks of time for reading on the Tube or the bus, but devoting an afternoon to leisurely page-turning in the midst of a hectic schedule can seem positively illicit. Taking a break from academic reading brings on gnawing twinges of guilt. Isn’t there a chapter on remediation you should be studying?
